As a person who has been engaged in the recovery community for over 25 years, both as a person in need of services and now as a client advocate, I have never seen a professional respond to the need for substance abuse and mental health services the way that Andrew Foster has with Inspiration Ministries. COVID-19 has wreaked havoc around the world, and in Northeast Indiana, Mr. Foster's response was to lead Inspiration Ministries to certify five more recovery residences, which now makes a total of eight. Along with that, Inspiration Ministries opened its second Recovery Café, became a Certified Addiction Services Provider with the state of Indiana, and was approved by Medicaid. Mr. Foster also sees the unique need for peer support specialists, and Inspiration Ministries employs over 25 certified peers and trained another 50 in 2020. Mr. Foster and Inspiration Ministries continues to fight through the stigma to advocate for those with substance abuse and mental health issues in our communities, those engaged in the criminal justice system, and in our faith-based communities. This man is a hero in the state of Indiana with vision to replicate a model of recovery that will transform lives for years to come.
